The ‘Champion’ dance, made famous by the West Indies cricket team, is slowly spreading around the world.
The song was first released by Trinidadian cricketer and DJ Dwayne Bravo in March. It was popularised by the West Indies cricket team, who adopted it as their victory anthem after every match win during the ICC World T20 tournament.
Describing it as an “inspirational song, Bravo has said that it had a simple concept, that “we are all champions.”
Many others have also danced to its tunes, including Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and the Indian women’s cricket team.

Such was the popularity of the dance that Bravo also started the #ChampionDance challenge during the tournament, asking his fans and celebrities such as Barack Obama, Usain Bolt, Serena Wlliams, Michael Jordan, West Indies players Brian Lara and Chris Gayle, and Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni to groove to its music.
