Pepsi To Release Coffee Drink In 2020

If you love coffee a latte, then you’ll love Pepsi’s new coffee-infused cola

Pepsi Café, which also comes in a vanilla flavor, will hit shelves in the United States in April 2020 for a limited time. The new beverage contains nearly twice as caffeinated as a regular soda and is being used to leverage consumer trends to invigorate the main product.

Because Cola has been rather “stagnant,” over the last few years, Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing for Pepsi said that, “As consumer preferences continue to evolve, we as Pepsi need to evolve as well to better meet those needs.”

Consumers are becoming more and more interested in functional beverages that offer nutritional benefits or an energy boost. Iced coffees and energy drinks like Bang are picking up popularity, so Pepsi decided that now was the right time to debut a product that will both taste good and suit the needs of its consumers.

Pepsi Café has already been tested with a small group of consumers, and they were “surprised” about how the cola and coffee blended together, creating a good “synergy,” said Danielle Barbaro, director of research and development at PepsiCo.

The vanilla flavor is meant to be a milkier, latte-like drink.
