Holiday drinks across the pond are always so original and delicious looking!
Starbucks Japan is wasting no time getting into full holiday swing. According to the global coffeehouse chain, seasonal holiday drinks of the year will arrive Nov. 1 Starbucks has already revealed what the new beverages will be, and it will look and taste like Japanese Christmas cakes!
In Japan, Christmas differs slightly when it comes to holiday treats. Christmas cakes are strawberry shortcakes layered with cream and topped with strawberries. This is to showcase the red-and-white colors of Christmas, which are also considered lucky for the New Year.
And for this year, Starbucks Japan hopes that these new drinks will help customers enjoy special “moments.”
Starbucks’ first series of festive drinks will recreate a slice of Christmas cake. The Merry Strawberry Cake Frappuccino is filled with beautiful red-and-white layers with a “sponge cake crumb” bottom that is a combination of shortbread and finely crushed sponge cake, and on top is a layer of fresh pulp strawberry sauce. A light and fluffy cake-flavored milk layer makes up the rest of the drink, which is then topped with cream and crunchy strawberry pieces.
Accompanying the Frappuccino is the Merry Strawberry Cake Milk, which contains tart strawberry sauce with fruit pulp that pairs well with steamed milk and rich whipped cream.
