It hunts using a glowing lure, a living light powered by bioluminescent bacteria dangling right above its jaws. Its skin is so dark it absorbs 99.5% of all light, making it practically invisible in the abyss. And its massive, elastic jaw? Once something goes in, it’s never coming back out.
But the strangest part isn’t how it eats. It’s how it mates. Male anglerfish are tiny, and when they find a female, they fuse with her body. Their skin merges, their blood vessels connect, and the male slowly dissolves into little more than a permanent sperm source.
