Tokyo Disneyland is getting a bigger park soon
2020 is just a few weeks away and Tokyo Disneyland has revealed new details for its massive expansion next year.
The expansion, costing around 75 billion yen, will encompass Tokyo Disneyland’s Fantasyland, Toontown and Tomorrowland. New attractions include “Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast”, “Mickey’s Magical Music World,” and “The Happy Ride with Baymax,” all of which will open April of next year.
Concept art reveals that Fantasyland will be the main attraction. The revamped area will immerse guests in the world of Beauty and the Beast. There will be a recreation of Belle’s village, where guests can pick up their Fastpass from Maurice’s Cottage, visit the Village Shoppes for souvenirs and grab a delicious drink or snack at La Taverne de Gaston.
Guests will then be able to head to the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast ride, which will be located inside a 30-meter-tall recreation of the Beast’s castle. The ride itself will consist of enchanted cups—which will dance and sway alongside silverware, much like from the scene of “Be Our Guest”—that will take guests through famous scenes from the movie.
Tomorrowland will feature “The Happy Ride with Baymax,” and will be the “world’s first rotating ride attraction themed to the Disney film Big Hero 6,” according to the park. The Big Pop popcorn shop will also be a new addition. Tokyo Disney Resorts are famous for their variety of specially flavored popcorn, but The Big Pop will be the first shop dedicated entirely to popcorn and will offer Cookie & Cream, Caramel & Cheese and Strawberry Milk flavors.
Toontown will house “Minnie’s Style Studio” where Minnie Mouse will greet guests as a world-renowned fashion designer.
