Dare we say it — this interview turned us into bonafide Beliebers.
Justin Bieber stopped by Wednesday’s Tonight Show for an honest interview in which he discussed getting “emotional” (read: crying like a baby) during his VMAs performance Sunday night.
Turns out his harness was just pulling on his “junk.”
Not really (we think). In all seriousness, Bieber explained that the night was simply “overwhelming” for him.
“Honestly, I just wasn’t expecting for them to support me in the way that they did. Last time I was at an awards show, I was booed,” he continued. “I think it’s just like, I’ve worked so hard at this album and worked so hard becoming the man I wanna become, and stepping into situations you just can’t help but feel judged, and just wanting to win so badly and just wanting to do what I loved so badly, that I just put everything on the line.”
Bieber goes on to explain his, let’s call them, lost years, saying, “I just had a bunch of knuckleheads around me.” And unfortunately, the harsh spotlight shining on him captured his growing pains — if that’s what you call peeing in a bucket, a DUI and an abandoned monkey.
Regardless, all is forgiven now — because Bieber seems to have awkwardly and nervously wormed his way back into our hearts. If the interview doesn’t do it for you, then just check out him singing “Where Are U Now” as a country ballad.
