Biggest Starbucks Reserve store coming to Chicago
Starbucks is opening the world’s largest Roastery in Chicago on November 15, overtaking Tokyo as its biggest location. The four-story Chicago Roastery will be 43,000 square feet, replacing a former Crate and Barrel location in the city’s Magnificent Mile neighborhood.
The roastery will feature specialty teas and coffees, on-premise roasters and huge coffee casks holding freshly roasted beans. The new Starbucks will also have craft cocktails and serve fancier food than a normal Starbucks location. The location will feature the company’s artisan bakery concept, Princi.
The upcoming Starbucks is said to be a “fully sensorial coffee environment” dedicated to roasting and brewing coffees from around the world.
Currently, Starbucks has five Roastery locations across the world: New York, Milan, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Seattle.
The new Chicago location comes amid Starbucks’ growth as a company, which is focused on aggressively opening restaurants, improving its technology, developing new products, and expanding its rewards program.
In other news, during the Starbucks’ Leadership Experience conference, employees and customers looking to increase their coffee knowledge will be able to take online classes from Starbucks’ new global coffee academy, which was created in partnership with Arizona State University. Modules will focus on the origins and sourcing of Starbucks’ coffee.
