Only Florida Would Have A Horror Movie Based On Hurricanes
Only in Florida does it make sense to have a horror movie about a raging hurricane and alligators and all the things that could possibly go wrong in the aftermath.
Nine years after “Piranha”, director Alexandre Aja returns to the realm of aquatic horror with his new movie “Crawl”, whose is produced by Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man).
As the synopsis of the movie goes, when a massive Category 5 hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scoledario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). She eventually she finds him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, but the two become trapped by rising floodwaters and, as time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.
The two are plunged into a reptilian nightmare, and Haley and her father find themselves trapped alongside several of Florida’s natural predators. Within hours being released on YouTube Thursday, the trailer for “Crawl” had reached more than 1 million times views.
