Thinking of grabbing a pack of M&Ms or a bag of Cheetos from a to pick you up before studying for your next exam?
Finals week is a killer for most college students, but Ohio State University found the perfect way to help students de-stress and fill their bellies with a little delicious something.
Ohio State installed a special vending machine on the Columbus campus that offers bacon bits and cooked bacon strips for $1. All proceeds benefit the school’s meat science program, and members of the program are responsible for the bacon machine operation on the Columbus campus.
Senior Sarah Page, who studies meat science, said the bacon vending machine at the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences turned out to be even more popular than expected.
So many students are taking a break from studying to make a bacon run that the vending machine has to be restocked four or five times a day. Students love “the overall Ohioness of it,” the Associated Press reported.
Bacon donations for the machine come from pork producers like Smithfield, Hormel and Sugardale, and the Ohio Pork Council is sponsoring the vending machine. The bacon vending machine will remain stay on campus through the end of final exams, Dec. 13.
